|Roy Adams, age 90, of South Fork Road, Stanton, KY passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Stanton Nursing and Rehab Center. Born November 11, 1922 in Estill County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Betty Crowe Adams. Roy was a lifelong resident of Powell County and served in the 3rd Army during World War II. During his life he worked for many years for the Powell County Fiscal Court Highway Department and farmed. He served on the board of directors of the Powell County Farm Bureau Federation, Southern States Advisory Board and the Farm Service Advisory Board. At his death he was a member of the Bowen First Church of God. He is survived by his wife of more than 64 years, Thelma Jean Crowe Adams, one son, David (Cheryl) Adams of Winchester, KY; three grandchildren: Alan (Amy) Adams, Kimberly (Randy) Foster and Russell Adams; two great grandchildren, Olivia Adams and Myla Leger; one brother, James L. (Iva Mae) Adams of Clay City, KY; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many good neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Otto, Cecil and Thair Adams and by one sister, Thelma Davis. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Steven Williams and Bro. Garland Lacy will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Visitation begins at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in the Donnie G. Randall Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alan Adams, Russell Adams, Edward Crowe, Randy Foster, Karl Adams and Charles Adams. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bowen First Church of God, Gideon's International or the charity of your choice.
