Mary Carmen Cress

Mary Carmen Conlee Cress, age 77, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Irvine, KY following a long illness. Born in Winchester, KY she was the daughter of the late Gertrude Derickson Conlee and the late Bernard Martin Conlee. Mary Carmen was the former School Food Service Director for the Powell County Board of Education. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, former member of the Powell County Woman's Club, member of the Kentucky Retired Teacher's Association and member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents Mary Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cress; one brother, Bernard Lynwood Conlee and one sister, Desta Louise Price. She is survived by her two sons: Rupert "Artie" White of Richmond and Stan White of Frankfort; one sister, Diana Brandenburg of Irvine; three step children: Doug Cress, Katie Cress and Quinn Atherton; five grandchildren: Lindsey White, Leslie White, Lauren White, Kelsey Carr-White, and Kaden Carr-White; two great grandchildren: Doc Silas Robinson and Lillian Piper Nichols and six step grandchildren. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Jonathan Tullos and Cebert Gilbert will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 2652 Campton Road, Stanton, KY. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Hearne Funeral Home, Inc., 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Interment will be in Stanton Cemetery with Thomas Lynn Conlee, David Garrett, Brian Duke, Caden Carr-White, Nicholas Garrett, and Martin Brandenburg serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Nelson White, Ralph Wayne Derickson, Powell County High School Class of 1957, Arlis Martin, Paul "Pooge" White, H.T. and Wilda Derickson.
