Christy Gilbert

Christy "Dobbin" Gilbert, age 89, passed away June 8, 2016 at his residence in Stanton, KY. Born in Slade, KY he was the son of the late William H. and Julia Akers Gilbert. He was a retired superintendent with Script Howard Publishing Company. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two daughters, Michelle Huber and Diane Tackett; three stepchildren, Danny Dale Creed, Ronnie Creed and Juanita Whitehurst and by one grandchild, Christopher Townsend. He is survived by his wife, Marie Nienhuis Gilbert; two daughters, Linda (Todd) Mason of Richmond and Deloris (Roy) Townsend of Stanton; two stepdaughters, Maryann Nelson of Clay City and Betty Sparks of Lexington; one brother, John (Ann) Gilbert of Mesa, AZ; four sisters, Cordia (Emin) Rapier of Winchester, Gladys (Elihu) Stamper of Winchester, Dorothy (Tommy) O'Hair of Middletown, OH and Della Vanderpool of Van Nuys, CA; 25 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Funeral services officiated by Rev. James Harold Combs will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Visitation begins at 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Stonegate Cemetery with Todd Mason, Ricky Creed, Doug Werne, Jeff Strange, Brian Brooks and Kyle Shultz serving as pallbearers.
