Walter Hampton, age 88, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at his residence on Blackburn Street in Stanton. Born in Powell County, KY he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Hampton and the late Mary Francis Brandenburg Hampton. Walter was a retired electrician with Hinkle Contracting Corp. and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Darrell Hampton; four brothers: Rex Hampton, Lawrence Hampton, Vernard Hampton and Orville Hampton and by two sisters: Hattie Hunter and Florence Hunter. Walter Hampton is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Louise Combs Hampton; grandson, K. J. Hampton and his wife Candace; great grandchild, Kennedy Hampton; daughter-in-law, Patricia (Cricket) Drake Hampton and two sisters-in-law, Martha (Jim) Roundtree and Faye Hampton. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Elder Goble and Bro. Jonathan K. Tullos will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 30, 2016 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue in Stanton. Visitation begins at 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Stanton Cemetery with Gary Hunter, Tony Watson, Dorsey Hall, Kenny Steppe, George Drake and Larry Drake serving as active pallbearers.
