Eldora "Dodie" Bowen

Eldora "Dodie" Bowen, 84, wife of Claude L. Bowen, Nest Egg Road, Mt. Sterling, KY passed away on December 14, 2015 at Clark Regional Medical Center. Born in Clay City, KY she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Sudie Muncie Townsend.  Dodie was a member of Clay City First Church of God and the Estill County Saddle Club.  She had driven a school bus for 25 years for the Powell County Board of Education and she loved camping and being in the outdoors.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marcella "Cricket" Hoskins and Betty Lois Linkous.  She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Claude Bowen; one brother, Lawrence "Dick" Townsend and his wife Maude of Clay City; two stepsons:  Billy Jo Bowen of Mt. Sterling and Mike Bowen of Jeffersonville; one stepdaughter, Claudia Lynn Burnett and her husband Robert of Georgetown; four step grandchildren:  Mikey (Julie) Bowen of Lexington, Britney Bowen and Bobby Jo Bowen of Jeffersonville and Philip Campbell of North Carolina.  She was a second mother to Shonda (Garrick) Williams of Mt. Sterling and Nanna to Joshua and Jonathan Williams.  Funeral services officiated by Rev. Max Molihan and Rev. Brad Epperson will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue in Stanton, KY.  Visitation begins at 5:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Powell's Valley Cemetery, Clay City, KY with Glenville Townsend, Stevie Townsend, Robert Burnett, Mike Townsend, Darrell Townsend, Derrick Townsend and Gary Hoskins serving as active pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers are Larry Townsend, Gary Townsend, John Graybill and Jimmy Linkous.  Arrangements by Hearne Funeral Home, Inc.  www.hearnefuneralhome.com
