Juanita M. Rogers, 87, passed away Sunday evening at her residence in Winchester after a ten year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was a native of Powell County, Kentucky and the daughter of the late George Moses Morton and the late Fannie Daniel Morton. She taught Home Economics for thirty and a half years at Powell County High School, Fairview High School, Ashland High School and was a charter member of the faculty of Paul G. Blazer Sr. (Ashland) High School. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics, a Master of Arts in Education from Morehead State University and achieved a Rank 1 status at Morehead State University. Juanita was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland and Bowen First Church of God. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Alfred Eugene Rogers of Winchester, their son Phillip Rogers (Evelyn) of Peachtree City, Georgia, a grandson Matt Rogers (Bailey) of Roswell, Georgia and a granddaughter, Jamie Rogers of Newnan, Georgia. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Steven Williams will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Hearne Funeral Home in Stanton. Visitation begins at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Stonegate Cemetery, Stanton, KY with Tim Rogers, Jim Hall, Greg Crabtree, Brian Marcum, Shawn Skidmore and Chester Crabtree serving as active pallbearers.
