Hoy Fortney, age 94, of Pearl Street, Stanton, KY passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, KY. Born in Hima, KY he was the son of the late Walter and Sudie Moore Fortney. He was a veteran of World War II and after serving in the Asiatic Pacific he was discharged on January 2, 1946. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Trinidad Fortney; five brothers: Preston (Maude) Fortney of Hyden, Charlie (Flora) Fortney of Stanton, Cotton (Ruby) Fortney of Stanton, Walter Scott (Georgia) Fortney, Jr. of Louisville and a twin Roy Fortney of Wilson, NC and one sister, Thelma (Arvel) Flannery of Hazard. He is survived by his sister, Billie (Charlie) Long of Stanton and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation begins at 12:00 P.M. followed by funeral services officiated by Rev. Kim Rose at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Interment with military honors will be in Stanton Cemetery with Fred Fortney, Danny Fortney, W. S. Fortney, Jimmy Fortney, Wilgus Fortney and Lee Botts serving as active pallbearers. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Clark Regional Medical Center and the staff of Hospice East for their kindness and excellent care of Hoy during his brief stay.
