Asa Patton, age 89, of Ships Branch Road, Clay City, KY passed away at his residence on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Born in Clay City, KY he was a son of the late Enis and Martha Hutchinson Patton and a member of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church. Asa Patton was a World War II Army Veteran of the 63rd Infantry Division. He had retired after 30 years from General Motors and after 15 years as custodian from the Powell County Board of Education. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by five brothers: Eugene Patton, Hubert Patton, Gilbert Patton, Linville Patton and Reese Patton and by two sisters: Eunice McClure and Ruth Faulkner and one grandson, Warren Bowen. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Miller Patton; one son, Asa Lee and his wife Linda Patton of Jeffersonville, KY; one daughter, Paula and her husband James Watson of Clay City, KY; one brother, Vernon "Joe" Patton of Dayton, OH; nine grandchildren: Crystal (Justin) Spencer, Jarrett (Kyra) Patton, Jamie (Mike) Perry, Shane Karpensky, Dillon Conlon, Kelsey Conlon, Micah Patton, General Bowen and Robert Bowen; two special grandsons: Brandon Bowen and Dustin Bowen and by seven great grandchildren: Charles Sawyer Spencer, Mackenzie Caudill, Ariel Perry, Ian Perry, Easton Karpensky, Catarina Hurt and Madyson Conrad. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Paul Day and Bro. Sammy Faulkner will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church, Fifth Avenue, Clay City, KY. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Thursday at the church. Interment with military honors will be in Virden Cemetery with General Bowen, Robert Bowen, Jarrett Patton, Shane Karpensky, Eugene Patton and Justin Spencer serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Micah Patton, Charles Sawyer Spencer, Jennifer McIntosh, Mitch Spencer, Isabelle McClure, Mike Spangler, Dr. Charles Noss, Hospice East and V. A. Home Base Care.
