Wilford Ray Spencer, age 79, of Cat Creek Road, Stanton, KY passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at his residence. Born in Nada, KY he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Spencer and the late Lela Morton Spencer. He was a highly decorated veteran of the U S Air Force who received the Distinguished Flying Cross. Retired Master Sergeant Wilford Ray Spencer served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. He attended the Cat Creek Church of Christ and he was a former social worker with the Commonwealth of Kentucky. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Lee Spencer; three brothers: Kenneth Edsel Spencer, Shadwick Spencer and Ellis Spencer and by two sisters, Retha Dora Spencer and Laura Annette Ewen. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Wilson Spencer; two sons: Stephen (Margaret) Spencer of Chatsworth, GA and Karl (Sheri) Spencer of Mt. Sterling, KY; one daughter, Kathy Spencer of Bowen, KY; one brother, Harold Duane Spencer of Stanton, KY; one sister, Karon Elouise Ballinger of Covington, LA along with 17 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation begins at 11:00 A.M. and funeral services officiated by Brother Dwaine Meadows will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Burial with military honors will be in Donnie G. Randall Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Karl Spencer, Stephen Spencer, Steven Spencer, Harold Duane Spencer, Neil Spencer and Christian Spencer. Kathy Spencer will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
