Ellis Lavaughn Spencer, age 72, of Campton Road, Stanton, Kentucky passed away at the V A Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky on Friday, September 5, 2014. Born in Nada, Kentucky he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Lela Morton Spencer. He was a veteran of the U S Air Force and a former employee of the V A Medical Center. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Edsel Spencer and Shadwick Spencer and by two sisters, Retha Dora Spencer and Laura Annette Ewen. He is survived by his daughter, Tamara (Rex) Oliver of Berea, Kentucky; two brothers, Harold Duane Spencer and Wilford Ray (Maureen) Spencer both of Stanton, Kentucky; one sisters, Karon Elouise Ballinger of Covington, Louisiana; three grandchildren: Joshua James Oliver, Brent Allan Oliver and Megan Linette Oliver; six great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Memorial services with eulogy by Tim Spencer will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Friends may visit on Tuesday from noon until time of service. Interment with military honors will be in the Faulkner Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Baker and the Baker family, Mike Tipton, Tim Spencer, Bernard Ewen and Tom Knox. Arrangements by Hearne Funeral Home, Inc.
