Loredith B. Staton, 88, beloved mother, teacher, and friend was ushered into heaven on July 27, 2014. She passed peacefully from death to eternal life as family attended her bedside singing hymns. Loredith was born and raised in Powell County, KY. She moved to Breathitt County, after meeting and marrying the love of her life, John T. Staton. They were married for nearly 60 years before he preceded her in death. Mrs. Staton was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 wiferising long before daybreak each morning, she tended well to the ways of her household and family till late at night. Ultimately, her love of children led her to obtain a B.S. in Elementary Education from Eastern KY University and, hence, she embarked on a new journey to serve others through teaching in the Breathitt County public school system for nearly thirty years. She worked tirelessly each day. During the weekdays she could be found teaching 4th 5th, or 6th grades at L.B.J. Elementary, then, immediately after school and weekends, working alongside her husband at Home Grocery. Her love of the Lord coupled with her love for teaching prompted her to begin teaching Sunday school. She taught Adult Sunday School classes at Providence Pentecostal Church and Bowen First Church of God. While working and teaching, she positively impacted and inspired countless children and adults. She will forever be remembered for her infectious smile, tenacious faith and hope in Christ, countless hours of caregiving to loved ones, perfectly beautiful coiffed appearance, spotless home, and superb mealsespecially, her delicious breakfast of fried chicken, gravy, and homemade biscuits. Loredith Baker Staton was preceded in death by her parents (William H. and Anise Baker), husband (John T. Staton), son (Jeffrey), sister (Pauline), and brother (Dean). Mrs. Staton is survived by her eldest daughter (Linda, 67), and surprise, mid-life blessing (Denita, 49), daughter-in-law (Rosemarie), five grand-children (Lisa, Cassie, Jeff Jr, Kaela and Mia), three great-grand-children (Shelby, Brik, and Colton), two sisters (Francis and Wavelyn), and one brother (Don). Her presence on earth will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Visitation and Funeral services will be held at The Bowen First Church of God, 5555 Campton Road, Stanton, KY. Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2014 6:30pm-8:30pm. Her Home-Going Celebration will be Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Stanton Cemetery, Main Street, Stanton, KY with Scott van Outer, Walter Ruthen, Brian Griggs, Billie Atkinson, Keith Profitt Mike Reed and Jim Dennis serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Michelle Tobis, Annette Rickert, Billie Marinakis, Bev Mazarowki, Susan Bennett, Bill Humble, Kaela van Outer, Melvin Snowden and members of Bowen First Church of God.
