Henry Riggs Profile Photo
Henry F. Riggs, born 24 January 1931, departed this life on 07 April 2014 surrounded by family and loved ones. Henry, a native of Stanton and life-long resident, was a veteran of the United States Air Force (1950-1953), a Quality Control Specialist for IBM for 30 years (retired 1985), and life-long member of the Masonic Lodge from 1969 until his death. As a member of the lodge, Henry served as Master of the Stanton Lodge #352, District Deputy Grand Master #31 in 1976, and later in life moved his membership to the Right Angle Lodge #233 in Winchester, Kentucky. Henry remained very active in his post-retirement years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. Henry was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Sherman and Nannie Mae Riggs, his brothers James Sherman, Jr., Ronald, Morris, and sisters Wanda, Patty, and Cookie He was also preceded by his first born William Franklin Riggs. Henry was survived by his daughter LaHannah Fields, son James Riggs, grandchildren Kim, Alan, Amanda, Bryan, great-grandchildren Olivia Grace, Olivia Renee, and Charles Lindsay Ginter, Jr., brother Donald Riggs and sister Alma (Robert) Trent. Henry was beloved by all who knew him. A man with a seemingly endless capacity for love and compassion he devoted his life to caring for those around him. Whether it be his brothers and sisters, his wife and children, or his grandchildren, he loved them all equally and wanted nothing more than to make sure all of them were taken care of. He was a self-less man, one of the last of a generation of self-less men. He will be missed.
