Anna Vanover Vires, age 86, widow of Archie Vires, of Skinner Branch Road, Clay City, KY passed away at her residence with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Born in Avawaam, KY she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Joseph Vanover. She was a member of the Powell County Homemakers Association and the Clay City Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three sons, Paul Napier, Alva Vires and Estill Vires and by one daughter, Melissa Vires. She is survived by three sons: David and his wife Janice Vires, Archie and his wife Sherry Vires and Mark and his wife Charlene Vires all of Clay City, KY; five daughters: Media and her husband Carl Witten of Moyock, NC, Mary Jayne Casey of Clay City, KY, Betty Jo and her husband Glenn Oliver of Stanton, KY, Katherine and her husband Shane Simpson of Clay City, KY and Bonnie and her husband Allan Vaillencourt of Clay City, KY; two brothers: James and his wife Sue Vanover of Hazard, KY and Sam Vanover of Clay City, KY; three sisters: Melissa and her husband Tommy Ramey of Salt Lick, KY, Louvirna Hall of Stanton, KY and Josephine and her husband Donnie Sizemore of Hazard, KY; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Visitation begins at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday and funeral services officiated by Bro. M. C. Rice and Bro. Daniel Newell will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Clay City Church of Christ, 5719 Main Street, Clay City, KY. Interment will be in Kennon Cemetery, Hardwicks Creek Road, Clay City, KY with David Casey, Victor Puente, Jonathan Rogers, Paul Rogers, Vincent Puente, William Vires, Benjamin Witten and Eric Witten serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Elihue Shepherd, Viola Netherly, Melvin Dean Burgher, Elihue Shepherd, II and the members of the Clay City Church of Christ. Arrangements by Hearne Funeral Home, Inc.
