Flora Jones Short, age 80, wife of Chiles Edward Short of Caudill Road, Stanton, KY passed away on September 11, 2013 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, KY. Born in Saltillo, IN she was the daughter of the late Everett and Irrell Rife Wilfong. She was a former security officer for Johnson Security at Keenland and Richmond Place and she was a retired security officer for Pinkerton Security. Flora was an avid bird watcher and nature lover and she attended the Clay City Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Wilfong and by her sister, Linda Wilfong. She is survived by her husband, Ed Short; two daughters: Paula K. Jones of Lexington, KY and Garnet (Eddie) Meeks of Winchester, KY; four brothers: Kermit Wilfong of Frankfort, KY, David Wilfong, Steve (Eloise) Wilfong and Niles Wilfong all of Elizabeth, IN; one sister, Kathy (Mike) Bailey of Elizabeth, IN; three grandchildren: Joseph Short and James Short both of Mt. Sterling, KY and Leeanne Short of Winchester, KY; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rollie Elwood and Bernice Short of Jeffersonville, KY along with her dear friends, Jimalee Fitzpatrick, Donna Gabbard, Joanne Fallen, Mary Jordan and Jenny Elkins. Visitation begins at 5:00 P.M. on Monday and funeral services officiated by Rev. Grider Denney and Rev. Anthony Molihan will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Hearne Funeral Home, Inc., 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Interment will be in Stonegate Cemetery, 27 Stonegate Drive, Stanton, KY with Ed Short, David Short, Richard Short, Randy Short, Joseph Short and Franklin Hurt serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Kermit Wilfong, David Wilfong, Steve Wilfong, Miles Wilfong, Carlton Hall, William Thorpe, Paul Pelfrey, Dickie Rice, Bobby Pelfrey, Cordis Brown and Willard Rogers.
