Franklin Paul Snowden, Sr., age 89, WWII Army Veteran, died at his residence on Forge Mill Road, Clay City, KY on March 18, 2013. Born in Clay City, KY he was the son of the late Bryan and Fannie Tipton Snowden. He was a member of CCC Camp prior to entering the Army. He was a retired saw mill operator for Freeman Corporation and a member of the Bible Methodist Church and the Red River Historical Society. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Sexton Snowden; one daughter, Sharon K. Childers and by two brothers, Preston Snowden and Leber Snowden. He is survived by his son, Franklin P. Snowden, Jr., of Clay City, KY; two brothers: Ernest Snowden of Clay City, KY and Rodney Snowden of Irvine, KY; three sisters: Letha Mae Sexton and Ava Nell (Clinton) Barnett, both of Clay City, KY and Lella Bell Berry of Winchester, KY; four grandchildren: Jonas Childers, Nancy Cook, Brittany Snowden and Joshua Snowden and by two great grandchildren. Funeral services officiated by Bro Scoby Faulkner and Bro. Dale Payne will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Hearne Funeral Home Inc., 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Visitation after 5:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Powell's Valley Cemetery, Clay City, KY. Active pallbearers are Jonas Childers, Ricky Holland, Charlie Powell, Darrell Fraley, Jeremy Beasley and Tim Beasley. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Wimor, Norm Hunter and Bedford King.
