Julian "Ike" Rice, age 76, widower of Joy Puckett Rice, of 7th Avenue, Clay City, KY passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013 at his residence. Born in Clark County, KY he was the son of the late Robert P. and Mable Roundtree Rice. Ike was a U S Army veteran, a former construction worker with Hinkle Contracting Corp. and he was a farmer. He attended the West Bend Church of God and he was a member of Clay City Lions Club and a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. and Mable Roundtree Rice; his wife, Joy Carolyn Puckett Rice; his brother, Charles P. Rice and by his sister, Thelma Frances Fallen. He is survived by three brothers: Donald Richard and his wife Frances Rice, Kenneth Young and his wife Carolyn Rice and Danny Ray Rice all of Clay City, KY; five sisters: Odetta Adams, Janice Gayle and her husband Lonnie Stewart and Doris and her husband Earl Gilbert all of Clay City, KY and Sharon and her husband Morris Gilbert and Mary Johnson all of Stanton, KY; three grandchildren: Dr. Brad and his wife Dr. Deanna Morris, Dr. Brent and his wife Corrie Morris and Casey and her husband Zack Unger and one great grandson, Nicholas Bradley Morris. Visitation begins at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday and funeral services officiated by Dr. Brent Morris, Bro. Ray Wyant and Bro. Anthony Molihan will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Hearne Funeral Home Inc., 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Burial with military honors will be in Stonegate Cemetery, 27 Stonegate Drive, Stanton, KY. Pallbearers are Robert Rice, Kenny Rice, Chad Rice, Scott Meadows, Cory Meadows and Greg Adams.
