A. T. (Andrew Tolson) Rogers, age 74, went home to be with The Lord Wednesday evening, January 9, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 19, 1938 in Stanton, KY to the late Elmer G. Rogers and the late Lucy Smathers Thomas. He was a member of Grace Bible Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps and retired the commander of the identification bureau from Metro Police Department, Lexington after 28 years of service. He specialized in fingerprinting, crime scene photography and polygraph administration. He was a dedicated partner of 55 years to Edith M. Rogers, loving supportive father to Sonja Ferrell and Andrea Brandenburg, and gentle doting grandfather to Alyssa Jo and Sydney Ann Brandenburg and Glorianna "Glory" June Ferrell each of whom he adored. He was a primary caregiver to them from birth. He was the rock and strength for all of "his girls". He was survived by daughters, Sonja Ferrell and Andrea (Joe) Brandenburg, ex-wife and life-long partner, Edith June Rogers all of Winchester, KY; one sister, Sue (Paul) Martin of Stanton, KY; one brother, Alan (Doris) Rogers of Eaton, OH; his cousin, Anna (John) Powell; nephews, Dean and Kenny Rogers; his nieces, Tina King and Carolyn Baker and his "babies" - Alyssa (12 yrs), Glory (10 yrs) and Sydney (7 yrs). In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his nephew, Eddie Martin. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Lee Cruse, Sr. and Rev. Tommy Howard will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at Hearne Funeral Home Inc., 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Visitation from 5:00 til 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Highway 213, Stanton, KY with Alan Rogers, Paul Martin, Kenny Rogers, Joe Brandenburg, Will Martin and Steve McIntosh serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Crank, Luther Cole, Cortez Day, Billy and Susan Fryar, Ed Haddix, Eddie and Carol Hayes, Fred Kelly, Larry Ousley, Faye Richardson, Farley and Mary Spencer, Jim and Darlene Sparks and John Whitaker.
