Harold Dean "Pookie" Hughes, age 66, of Campton Road, Stanton, KY passed away on Jan. 1, 2013 at U K Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Born in Bowen, KY he was the son of the late Edward H. and Celia Martin Hughes. He was raised in the Bowen Church of Christ and he was a retired carpenter. He was an avid fan of horse racing and of the U K Wildcats. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers: Maynard, Keith and Larry Hughes and by one sister, Alberta Berry. Surviving relatives are his brother, David Martin Hughes and his wife, Kathy of Stanton, KY; two sisters: Rose Mary Lee and her husband Raymond of Mt. Sterling, KY and Patty Wells and her husband Phillip of Stanton, KY along with several nieces and nephews. Visitation begins at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday and funeral services officiated by Rev. Steven Williams and Rev. Brandon Candee will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Interment will be in the Moreland-Frazier Cemetery with Dean Rogers, Roger Overbee, Jonathan Wright, Winfred Hughes, Wes Howard and Barry Ewen serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Lee and Ken Lee, Daymon Hughes, Darrell Hughes and Chuck Hughes, Jeffrey Berry and Darren Berry, Willard Rogers and Scott Wells.
