Orval Friend, age 81, Campton Road, Stanton, KY passed away on December 24, 2012 at the V A Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Born in Powell County, KY he was the son of the late Holt and Nell Darrell Friend and he was a veteran of the Marine Corp. Orval Friend was a farmer and member of End Time Tabernacle Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, Malcolm Lawrence Friend and by his sister, Geneva Halsey. He is survived by his wife, Eula Martin Friend; one son, Denzil Friend; one daughter, Linda Kahler and one sister, Joan Miller all of Stanton, KY along with three grandchildren: Christopher Compton, Lee Compton and Barbara Compton and seven great grandchildren. Visitation begins at 12:30 P.M. and funeral services officiated by Rev. Gary Huntsburgher will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel, 125 West College Avenue in Stanton, KY. Interment with military honors will be in the Friend Cemetery, Campton Road, Stanton, KY. Pallbearers are Lee Compton, Christopher Compton, Denzil Friend, Nicholas Compton, Dylan Compton and Timmy Martin. Arrangements by Hearne Funeral Home, Inc.
