Violet Marie Hall Maahs, age 87, widow of Alfred L. Maahs, died on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Winsor Care Center, Mt. Sterling, KY. Born in Cabin Creek, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Sherman Lee Hall and the late Kahn Zalia Stewart Hall. Marie was also preceded in death by former husband, F. D. Friel. She was a charter member of Stanton Baptist Church and a former member of the Powell County Women's Club and the Eastern Star. She is survived by two sons: Robert L. (wife, Eva June) Friel of Louisville, KY and Dennis (wife, Jane) Friel of Stanton, KY; four grandchildren: Melanie (husband, J.R.) Dakin, Jason (wife, Vickie) Friel, Hunter Craig Friel and Christopher Chase Friel and by four great grandchildren: Jacey Dakin, Jansen Dakin, Chloe Friel and Carly Friel. Visitation begins at 5:00 P.M. and funeral services officiated by Rev. Doug Lewis along with her eulogy given by Nora Lee Walters will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY.
