Emory Chester Hobbs, age 87, husband of Anna Louise Hobbs, of Halls Lane in Stanton, KY passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Born in Stanton, KY he was the son of the late Douglas Irvin and Mary Carroll Hobbs. Emory C. Hobbs was a World War II Army Veteran who fought in the battle of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with five bronze service stars, the World War II victory medal and the good conduct medal. Emory was a member of the DAV, the American Legion Post 305 and the Stanton First Church of God. He was the retired owner and operator of the Western Auto Store formerly located in Stanton, KY. Surviving relatives are his wife, Anna Louise Hobbs; four sons: DeWayne (Debbie) Hobbs of Lexington, KY, Emory Keith Hobbs and Kelly Irvin Hobbs of Stanton, KY and Kenny Douglas Hobbs of Dayton, OH; one daughter, Kathy Jo Hobbs of Stanton, KY; one sister, Garnette (Keith) Mills of Louisiana and two grandchildren, Jeremy and Lucas Hobbs. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Timothy Hobbs; four brothers: Charles, John, Cecil and Irvin Hobbs and by three sisters: Irene Haggard, Loretta Oaks and Zeola Hall. Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Monday and funeral services officiated by Rev. Anthony Molihan will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, KY. Interment with military honors will be in the Stanton Cemetery, Main Street, Stanton, KY. Pallbearers are Jeremy Hobbs, Lucas Hobbs, Mark Hobbs and the American Legion Post 305 Honor Guard.
