Alvin "Al" Campbell, age 73, husband of Joanne Springer Campbell of Clay City, Kentucky passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Bulan, Kentucky to the late Andrew and Leona Triplett Campbell. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by six brothers: Pierce Dean Campbell, James Ed Campbell, Evan Campbell, Richard Campbell, Charles Campbell and Marcus Campbell; four sisters: Anita Campbell, Audrey Buck, Clementine Tracy and Barbara Templeton and his grandson, Cody Campbell. Al is survived by three sisters: Mae Campbell, Chris Frisby and Sharon Bishop; nine children: Sheila Getzinger (Duke), Steven Campbell (Brandy), Daniel Campbell (Julie), Tammy Coates (Alonso), Jamie Campbell (Becky), Alvin Campbell, Christopher Campbell (April), Anthony Campbell (Lauren) and Mary Nichols (Bryan); 30 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Al was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Stanton and served as Clay City councilman since 2003. He was the owner of Al's Pet Store in Stanton and past manager and sales representative for the Masterguard Corporation with three life saver awards related to fire safety systems installed in family homes. He was a past Kiwanis Club member, past officer in the Civil Air Patrol, past president of Head Start and a special deputy sheriff. He was the lead singer for several of his own bands playing 50's and 60's tunes along with country and popular music. His singing career began in grade school where his teachers sent him from classroom to classroom to sing to the children. He loved music. He also loved old cars and fixed up several over the years. Visitation begins at 6:00 PM Thursday at Hearne Funeral Home Inc. in Stanton. Funeral mass conducted by Fr. Al Fritsch will be 10:00 A.M. Friday at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Stanton. Burial will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday in Calvary Cemetery, 874 West Main Street, Lexington, KY with Daniel Campbell, Sr., Daniel Campbell, Jr., Alvin Campbell, Christopher Campbell, Anthony Campbell, Steven Campbell and Bryan Nichols serving as active pallbearers.
