Arnold Burton Morton, age 91, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Clay City, Kentucky. He was born on December 4, 1933, to the late Coleman Morton and the late Sallie Burus Morton. Arnold was a proud United States Army veteran whose steadfast dedication to service shaped his character and values. After his military career, he worked at National Cash Register Co. and General Motors, where he took pride in his contributions and the friendships he built along the way. As a member of the United Auto Workers (U.A.W.), Arnold valued his role in supporting workers' rights. He thrived in the company of others, finding joy in the simple pleasure of sharing meals. Arnold’s home was a welcoming haven, often filled with the warmth and laughter of family gatherings. He cherished these moments, relishing the connection and love that came with having his loved ones gathered around the table. Arnold’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. Devoted to his church family, he was a regular attendee, finding solace and strength in scripture. Arnold lived out his faith and his desire was for everyone he encountered to be prepared to meet the Lord. Known for his friendly demeanor, his honesty and generosity, he left a lasting impression on those around him. Arnold spoke softly, yet his words carried the weight of wisdom. With a humble heart and a loving spirit, he embodied high integrity, earning the respect and affection of all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Arnold is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Bonnie Jean Morton; two brothers: Paul Morton and Philip Morton; and two sisters: Marie McCoy and Barbara Frazier. He is survived by two sons: Darwin R. (Lana) Morton of Longwood, Florida, and Barry D. (Martha) Morton of Andersonville, Tennessee; two daughters: Angela (Joseph) Brewer of Homer, Alaska, and Cynthia N. (Jerry) Larrison of Clay City, Kentucky; nine grandchildren: Jeremiah (Christy) Brewer, Kathryn (Chris) Jackson, Josh Larrison, Bryan (Amanda) Larrison, Emily (Chris) Avitable, Heather (Josh) Abney, Adam Morton, Norman Morton, and Bonnie E. Morton; and eleven great-grandchildren: Daygan Larrison, Addison Jackson, Emma Larrison, Haley Jackson, Benjamin Larrison, Isabella Brewer, Alex Larrison, Ashtyn Brewer, Ellie Abney, Brynlee Brewer, and Hunter Abney. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Steve Skinner will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 28, 2025. Burial will be held at Miller-Willoughby Cemetery in Stanton with Jeremiah Brewer, Bryan Larrison, Adam Morton, Josh Larrison, Josh Abney, Daygan Larrison, and Ian Morton serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the members of Three Cross Baptist Mission Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
