Bonnie Bruce Palmer Reed, age 91, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed into the arms of Jesus at her home surrounded by her family on November 15, 2023. She was born in Stanton on January 26, 1932, to the late Herbert Palmer and the late Celia Moreland Palmer. Bonnie was a devoted Christian and an active member of Bowen First Church of God. She taught Sunday School for many years and was involved in various activities in the church. Bonnie loved music and often sang in churches throughout the county. Bonnie was proud of her family, and she was devoted to them. She was a loving, fun, and doting mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. During her final months of life, she joyfully awaited the arrival of her first two great-great-grandchildren, and she was able to meet each of them. A homemaker, Bonnie also worked several different jobs throughout the years. She loved making children feel special as she worked as a teacher’s assistant at Bowen Elementary and as she drove throughout Powell County as the first driver of the county’s Bookmobile. She worked for Sears Catalog for several years. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Matthew Seldon Reed; her son-in-law, Strother D. Hall; two brothers: Charles Thomas Palmer and Donnie Palmer; and one sister, Ena Faye Bowen. She is survived by her son, Seldon Dean (Sue) Reed of Stanton; her daughter, Rose Lynn Hall of Stanton; three grandchildren: Deana (Troy) Brooks, Kevin (Angela Earwood) Hall, and Jeremy Townsend; five great-grandchildren: Matthew (Erin) Brooks, Nathan Brooks, Jonathan (Kelsey) Brooks, Strother Harrison Earwood-Hall, and Poppy Victoria Earwood-Hall; two great-great-grandchildren: Wesley Scott Brooks and Emilia Jude Brooks; one brother, Deane Palmer of Winchester; one sister, Debra Fitzpatrick of Akron, Ohio, and three sisters-in-law, Barabara Reed of Norton, VA, Jackie Palmer of Middletown OH, and Carole Palmer of Middletown OH, and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved very much. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Brother Stephen Donithan, Brother Terry Frerichs, and Brother William Carpenter will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. on Monday immediately following visitation. Burial will be held at Reed Family Cemetery with Matthew Brooks, Nathan Brooks, Jonathan Brooks, Strother Harrison Earwood-Hall, Jeremy Townsend, Matthew Reed, Morgan Reed, Chris Nolan, and Nicholas Barnes serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews and the ladies who provided loving care for her during her last weeks of life: Frances Highley, Gladys Patton, and Lois Meadows. The family has requested donations be made to Bowen First Church of God in memory of Bonnie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
