Carolyn Smith

Carolyn Sue Smith, age 75, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Stanton Nursing Center in Stanton, Kentucky. She was born on January 2, 1950, in Stanton, Kentucky, to the late Shirley King and the late Nora Hollon King. Carolyn was a devoted member of Grace Fellowship Church of God of Prophecy, where she found joy in singing. Family was her cornerstone; she loved gathering with them for laughter and delicious home-cooked meals. Carolyn’s kitchen was filled with the warm aromas of her cooking and baking, while her garden flourished from her care. She took great pleasure in the art of crafting and sewing, skillfully creating clothes, curtains, and a variety of handmade items tailored to her needs. Each stitch reflected her creativity and passion, transforming ordinary materials into beautiful, functional pieces that added warmth and character to her and her home. With a bubbly personality and quick wit, Carolyn brightened every room, always ready to share kindness, optimism and her love of Jesus. In her free time, she enjoyed spirited games of rummy and monopoly, creating cherished memories with her loved ones. In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by four brothers: John D. King, Jesse E. King, Millard King, and Barney Ray King; and two sisters: Cora Elizabeth Bryant and Josephine Deal. She is survived by two sons: Jared (Heather) Smith of Stanton, and Stephen Smith of Lexington; two daughters: Stephanie (Wesley) West of Georgetown, and Heather (Keith) Rogers of Walton; one brother: Shirley King, Jr. of Clay City; one sister: Linda May Kirkpatrick of Stanton; and six grandchildren: Haeleigh Jones Rose, Benjamin Haddix, Kaitlyn Rogers, Norah Rogers, Hadley Rogers, and Deaglan Rogers. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Willard Estep will be held at the funeral home immediately following at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be at Stanton Cemetery with Stephen Smith, Jared Smith, Keith Rogers, Wesley West, Drew Haddix, Deaglan Rogers, Scotty Hatton, and Tim Hatton serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Carolyn Sue Collins, Shirley King, Jr., Jeff Newcomb, Britt Newcomb, and the staff of Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
