Cathy Stough Pelfrey, age 67, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born in Peru, Indiana, to the late Ray Stough and the late Vera Smith Poor. A proud graduate of Powell County High School, Cathy also found a sense of community at the Stanton Assembly of God, where her faith flourished. Her heart was devoted to her three children and her cherished grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. Known for her warm and welcoming nature, Cathy had a unique ability to connect with everyone she met, never treating a stranger as anything less than a friend. She had a deep love for the outdoors, often found beneath the sun, relishing the invigorating experience of riding her four-wheeler or operating various pieces of farm equipment. The thrill of being outside brought her true happiness. Traveling was another passion of hers; she embraced adventure and relished the company of others, always seeking to share experiences and memories. Cathy’s vivacious spirit made her one of the most caring and generous individuals, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. As the beloved matriarch of her family, she was the glue that held them all together, radiating love and support. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy of fond memories and affection. In addition to her parents, Cathy is preceded in death by one brother, Wallace Stough, and one sister, Louise Trent.
