Darlene Kay Thorpe, age 72, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stanton, Kentucky. She was born in Lima, Ohio to the late French Hough Thorpe and the late Gladys Sparks Thorpe. Darlene earned her bachelor’s degree in music from Houston Bible College. During her time there, she had the wonderful opportunity to travel throughout the United States as a member of the college choir, sharing her love for God through uplifting songs and harmonies. Singing in her church was a cherished part of her life, and she dedicated herself to deepening her understanding of the Scriptures by studying Biblical theology. In her downtime, Darlene immersed herself in the captivating world of mystery novels, often losing herself in the twists and turns of the plots. Her love for Bluegrass music echoed her Southern roots, filling her days with lively melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Known for her quick wit and infectious laughter, Darlene brought joy to those around her. Generosity was a defining trait of her character; she constantly sought opportunities to lend a helping hand and make a positive impact on the lives of others. Above all, Darlene aspired to reflect the qualities of her mother, striving to be a living testament to the values she held dear. In addition to her parents, Darlene is preceded in death by her two brothers: Floyd “Fuzzy” Thorpe and Daniel Gale Thorpe. She is survived by two nieces: Angela Thorpe of Mount Blanchard, Ohio, and Cindy Thorpe Hart of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; and six nephews: Justin (Whitney) Thorpe of Jeffersonville, Jason (Conni) Thorpe of  Ferdinand, Indiana, Bradley Thorpe of Stanton, Brandon (Sarah) Thorpe of Frenchburg, Kevin Thorpe of Mt. Sterling, and Allen Thorpe of Covington. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 10:30 A.M., at Harvestime Assembly Ministries, 460 E.
