Harold Duane Spencer, age 83, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at his home on Halls Branch Road, Stanton, Kentucky. He was born on April 24, 1940, in Nada, Kentucky, to the late Benjamin Franklin Spencer and the late Lela Morton Spencer. Duane was a United States Air Force veteran who served eight years in several different locations as a fireman, retiring with the rank of Senior Airman. He was employed as a civilian for twenty-three years as a fireman at the McClellan Air Force Base in California. He was a great outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, ride his four-wheeler, and take long hikes. Duane would help anyone and everybody and tried his best at everything he did. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Retha Doreth Spencer and Laura Annetta Ewen and five brothers: Wilford Ray Spencer, Kenneth Edsel Spencer, Shadwick Leon Spencer, Ellis Spencer and Nathaniel Spencer. Duane is survived by one daughter, Melissa Marie Spencer of Maryville, California; one special daughter, Christina Ann Clifton, Yuba City, California; one sister, Karon Eloise Ballenger of Louisiana and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky with military honors performed at the conclusion of the memorial service. Visitation will be held on Thursday also beginning at 6:00 P.M. until service time. Honorary pallbearers are Dallas and Lorene Brooks, Scotty Damron, Jim and Virginia Carpenter, Eddie and Marsha McCoy, Will and Lee McCoy, Patrick and Kayla McCoy and Perry Patterson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
