Donald Ray Lawson, age 77, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stanton, Kentucky. He was born in Stanton, Kentucky, on November 1, 1946, to the late Russell Clay Lawson and the late Irene Manning Lawson. Donald was a press operator with A. O. Smith Corporation, retiring after a career of 32 years. He was a lifelong Hatchers Creek Church of God member and enjoyed outdoor pursuits such as hunting, fishing, and especially swimming. Donald, above all, was a very loving husband and father. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Clay Lawson. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Rogers Lawson of Stanton; his son, Steven Ray (Melody) Lawson of Stanton; his daughter, Connie (Jeff) Newsome of Stanton; two brothers: Kenneth Tommy Lawson of Richmond and Troy Lawson of Stanton; one sister, Brenda Sue Lawson of Stanton; one sister-in-law, Madonna Lawson of Lafayette, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Brother Robert Rice will be held at the funeral home on Thursday directly after the visitation at 1:00 P.M. Burial will take place in Stanton Cemetery with Rickey Wasson, Darren Wasson, Troy Lawson, Jeff Newsome, Harold Bailey, and Tim Helton serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are all employees of Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
