Earl “Hoot” Frederick Marcum, age 91, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, KY. He was born in Vaughns Mill, Kentucky on May 11, 1932, to the late Jesse James Marcum and the late Bernettie Hall Marcum. Hoot grew up working in the oil fields on South Fork with his father. He was a Korean War Veteran serving with the United States Airforce. Hoot was a facility coordinator with I.B.M. and a great handyman. He loved his family and was fond of giving his grandchildren nicknames. Hoot also enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved his pets. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Duane Marcum; three brothers: William Marcum, Tracy Marcum, and Floyd Marcum; and two sisters: Marie McKinney and Leona Tipton. Hoot is survived by his wife of 70 years, Norma Marcum of Stanton; three sons: Gregg (Jerri) Marcum, Jeffory Marcum and Tim (Kristie) Marcum all of Stanton; one daughter, Tracy Marcum of Stanton; two brothers: Jesse Marcum and Bobby (Jane) Marcum both of Peru, Indiana; nine grandchildren: David (Tori) Marcum, Candace (Justin) Shepherd, Trey (Brittney) Marcum, Trevor Marcum, Nalli Marcum, Stephen Faw, Marc (Keisha) Faw, Drew Marcum, and J.D. Marcum;  fourteen great-grandchildren: Kyndall Marcum, Kyle Marcum, Gavin Shepherd, Grayson Shepherd, Griffyn Shepherd, Taytum Marcum, Kayden Faw, Madison Marcum, Sophia Marcum, Rylee Marcum, Brennyn Faw, Zakk Faw, Aiden Marcum, and Declan Marcum and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Greg Webb and Bro. Doug Turner will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Stanton Cemetery with Justin Shepherd, Stephen Faw, Marc Faw, David Marcum, Drew Marcum, J.D. Marcum, Trey Marcum and Trevor Marcum serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Candace Shepherd, Nalli Marcum, Tori Marcum, Keisha Faw, Brittney Marcum, and Friends of Lake Toho Fishing Camp. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
