Edro Deane Palmer, age 90, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Veterans Affairs Health Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on August 4, 1933, in Stanton, Kentucky, to the late Herbert Palmer and the late Celia Moreland Palmer. Deane was a United States Army Korean War veteran who was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed traveling and took trips with his wife to Australia, Mexico, and the Virgin Islands, as well as several states throughout the United States. As a licensed marine captain, Deane sailed his yacht “Born Free” in the New England / Long Island Sound area. He was employed as a pipeline corrosion specialist with Tennessee Gas and Pipeline Company. Deane never met a stranger, had a great smile, loved to laugh, and have a good time. More than anything else, he loved his family. In addition to his parents, Deane is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Webster Palmer; two brothers, Charles Thomas (Jackie) Palmer and Herbert Donald “Donnie” Palmer; two sisters, Bonnie (Matt) Reed and Ena Faye (Newt) Bowen; two stepsons, Jimi (Shelly) Castle and Larry C. Vaughan; and a stepdaughter, Margaret Frederickson. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Dwain) Horn, and Lorah Palmer, both of Winchester; one stepdaughter, Debbie Vaughan; one sister, Debra (Larry) Fitzpatrick of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; four grandchildren: Erika (Sean) O’Brien, Amanda Owens (Jason) Goodpaster, Stephanie (Noah) Steffen, and Aja Croteau; and beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Memorial Services will be conducted immediately following at 1:00 P.M., officiated by Bro. Terry Frerichs, with military honors performed at the conclusion of the service. Honorary pallbearers are Hagan O’Brien, Ella Shea O’Brien, Chase Goodpaster, Owen Goodpaster, Griffin Goodpaster, Matthew Brooks, Jon Brooks, Nate Brooks, and H.T. Derickson. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
