Elwood “Woody” Brewer, age 85, husband of Maxine Brewer, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at CHI Saint Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. He was born in Leeco, Kentucky, on May 5, 1938, to the late Corbett Brewer and the late Lorene Berryman. Woody was a self-employed entrepreneur who owned several businesses throughout his career. He was the proprietor of Standard Oil gas station, Brewer Excavating, Brewer Trucking, Western Auto, Ashland Oil Bulk Plant in Winchester, Buck’s Pizza, and Clay City Car Wash, and was a partner in B and B Auto Parts. Woody was also a private pilot. He was renowned for his hard work, intelligence, and wisdom and was beloved by many. In addition to his parents, Woody is preceded in death by his son, Edward Elwood Brewer; his brother, Ellis Brewer; two sisters: Elouise Pence and Elwanda Brewer; one grandchild, Jonathan Brewer and a host of family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Steve (Tracy) Brewer of Clay City; two grandchildren: Whitney (Wes) Young and McKenzie Brewer; two great-grandchildren: Tatum Grantham and Elsie Mae Young and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Brother James Harold Combs will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. Honorary pallbearers are Perry Patterson, Danny Smith, Wes Young, Doug Dee, James Hall, Larry Hale, and John Ellery Haddix. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
