He was born on August 11, 1955, and adopted by the late Myrtle Mae Brewer. Gary spent his formative years at the Dessie Scott Children’s Home, a place where he found not only shelter but also a loving connection with his beloved momma. She warmly introduced him to the teachings of Jesus and instilled in him the values of a Christian life. Gary had a deep appreciation for Christian music, often singing his cherished favorites, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus Loves Me." He found solace in prayer and looked forward to attending services, where he felt a sense of community and belonging. Gary was fiercely protective of those he loved, demonstrating a caring spirit toward family, friends, and even caregivers. His heart was big, and his capacity for love was evident in his everyday interactions. He also had a fondness for food, particularly a hearty meal with a good salad bar and steak and potatoes.
