Irvaleen Gaye Marcum, age 80, passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Flint, Michigan, on January 11, 1944, to the late Claude Carrothers, Sr. and the late Myrta Glasford Carrothers. Irvaleen was a wonderful Christian who had a great sacrificial love for others and gave of herself freely. She wanted everyone to know the Lord and to be with her in Heaven. Irvaleen was a dedicated wife who loved her husband more than anything in this life. She had a tremendous love and devotion to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always interested in any sport they were playing. Irvaleen loved her friends deeply, had a great sense of humor and treated everyone equally. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, cooking, and Kentucky basketball. In addition to her parents, Irvaleen is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wayne Marcum; and two brothers, Olin Carrothers and Claude Carrothers, Jr. She is survived by her son, Brian (Bridget) Marcum of Clay City; two daughters, Dana (Michael) Allen of Stanton, and Jill Klebs of Clay City; one sister, Myrta Gail Boswell of Clay City; three sisters-in-law: Virginia Carrothers, Agnes Daeschlein, and Wanda Crowe; five grandchildren: Jason Creech, Alicia (John) Bowman, Hannah (Joshua) Brewer, Luke Marcum, and Noah Marcum; and three great-grandchildren: Jacob Bowman, Grayson Brewer, and Adalynn Brewer. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Ted Linkous will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be held at Ware Cemetery with Jason Creech, Luke Marcum, Noah Marcum, Mike Terry, Rick Terry, John Bowman, Joshua Brewer, Johnny Marcum, and Scott Smith serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Allen, Patty Patrick, Theresa Terry, Velma (Dave) Wilson, Darrell Smith and family, Scott Smith family, Keith Branham, Wanda Crowe family – Karen, Greg, Kim, Ilse Marcum and family, Rita Polk and family, Jenny Patrick, Valerie Stephens, Sue Teasley, Chris, Lori and Clayton Hall, Sherry Wood, Alene Russell family, Darrell Frazier, Larry Terry, all of her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and the Powell County Middle School cafeteria friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
