Jackie Jay Jones

Jackie Jay Jones, age 53, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Irvine, Kentucky on May 16, 1971, to Claudie Ray Jones and Glenda Combs Jones. Jackie was a proud and dedicated veteran of the United States Army, having served bravely in the 102nd Division, which was attached to the 101st Airborne Division. His commitment to his country was exemplified during his 18-month deployment in Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, where he faced the challenges of military life with courage and resilience. Back home, Jackie cherished his family immensely. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending peaceful days fishing. Jackie had a passion for cooking and delighted in preparing delicious meals that brought everyone together around the dinner table, filling the room with warmth and love. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching television. Jackie also possessed a remarkable talent for working with knives, often spending hours honing his skills in sharpening them to perfection. Above all, Jackie was a deeply loving and caring man. His natural inclination to teach shone through in his interactions with family and friends, as he relished the opportunity to share his knowledge and skills. Whether it was imparting life lessons or practical tips, Jackie had a unique gift for nurturing and guiding those around him, ensuring that his legacy of love and teaching would continue for generations to come. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Otha and Ellie Jones; his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Blanche Combs; one brother, Eric Jones; two uncles, Henry Lee Jones and Donald Jones; and one niece, Sabrina Elkins. In addition to his parents, Jackie is survived by one son, Marcus (Mary) Jones of Stanton; two daughters, Ashley (Michael) Snyder and Chelsee (D.J.) West both of Stanton; one brother, Glendon Ray (Mandy) Jones of Stanton; one sister, Virginia Jones of Stanton; four grandchildren: Elijah Snyder, Emma Snyder, Ezekiel Snyder, and Maverick Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral Services officiated by Bro. Kenny Wasson will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, February 10, 2025. Burial will be held at Rose Cemetery in Stanton with Glendon Jones, Marcus Jones, Elijah Snyder, Michael Snyder, D.J. West, Chris Fraley, Johnathan Fraley, and Caleb Fraley serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Emma Snyder, Ezekiel Snyder, Maverick Jones, Kevin Morton, Tommy and Sharon Crowe, Robert Fraley, and Shane Morton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
