James D. Anderson, Jr.

James Dwain Anderson, Jr., age 48, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed into the arms of Jesus on May 21, 2024, at Saint Joseph Hospital in London. He was born in Winchester, Kentucky, on June 4, 1975, to James Dwain Anderson, Sr. and Nellie Moore Anderson. James graduated from Powell County High School in 1993 and from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics. During high school, he was a member of the first Powell County High School Football Team and later played football at Campbellsville College for two years. James was known for being ambitious, loyal, and hardworking in all his endeavors. He held a deep love for God, his family, and his community. James was a member of Stanton Christian Church and the Powell County Lions Club. He was a lifelong farmer and cherished his animals. James was a strong advocate for his community, notably supporting the creation of the Hollerwood ATV Park, the construction projects for the Emergency Dispatch and Operation Center, the Senior Citizens Center, the Animal Shelter, Recycling Center, and Jail expansion projects. He was also dedicated to improving our county road infrastructure by paving over five miles of gravel roads and being a part of over twenty bridge projects, and flood mitigation projects. James served for three terms as the Powell County Judge Executive and was recognized as KACo County Judge Executive of the Year in 2019. He was currently employed as a project manager for Codell Construction Company. In addition to his parents, James is survived by a beloved family: his wife, Candace Lett Anderson; one son, James Clayton Anderson; one daughter, Josi Claire Anderson; one brother, Ryan Anderson; one special brother, Chris Nolan; one nephew, Carson Anderson; his special mother, Linda Gail Nolan; his mother-in-law, Taffie Curtis; and great-great-aunt, Mary Ann White. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Stanton Chrisitan Church, 100 West Church Street in Stanton. Funeral Services, officiated by Bro. Doug Elam and Bro. Brad Epperson will be held at the church on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be held at Stanton Cemetery with Brody Napier, John Barker, Jessie Hale, Brad Thomas, Carson Anderson, Morgan Anderson, Greg Skidmore, and Brandon Branham serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Clayton Rogers, Mike Tipton, Bob Skidmore, Jimmy Skidmore, Jack and Rita Tolson, Scott Bowen, Shawn Skidmore, Wesley Ballard, Todd Holbrook, Dennis Combs, Stacy Crase, Rick Stamper, Robert King, Jim Codell, Jackie Everman, Cory Graham, Kevin Babcock, John Kelly, John and Gail Brewer, Timmy Tipton, Craig Dawson, Craig Lindon, Tony Ball, Mark and Maria Reed, Bruce Reynolds, Eck Snowden, Dale Emmons, Kevin Bellamy, Gary Bowen, John Bowen, Mendel and Debbie Tipton, Nancy Mann, Kacey Davidson, and Connie Crabtree.
