Phyllis Mccall

Phyllis McCall, age 92, previously of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away at Landmark of Danville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Danville, Kentucky, on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Phyllis was born in Clay City, Kentucky, on September 30, 1931, to the late Buell Abney and the late Clemmie Rogers. She attended Morris Creek First Church of God and was well known for her upholstery skills. Phyllis loved her family dearly; she loved taking walks with her late husband and playing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing the piano, quilting, gardening, fishing, square dancing and U.K. basketball. In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, James Clayton McCall, Jr.; her brother, James Abney and two sisters: Patsy Kennon and Dixie Sue Snapp. She is survived by four sons: Lonnie (Teresa) McCall of Stanton; John McCall of Clay City; David McCall of Lexington and Brian McCall of Lexington: three daughters: Darlene (Bill) Stamper of Frenchburg; LaDonna (Vincent) Scott of Lexington and Myra Dudee of Lexington; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Morris Creek First Church of God, 1670 Morris Creek Road, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Brother Raymond Tipton, will be held immediately following visitation at the church at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, February 12, 2024. Burial will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in Stanton, Kentucky, with Vincent Scott, Sam Scott, Anand Dudee, Randy Bowen, Jon Curtis, and Mike Lockard serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Stamper, Bob Mays, Jerald Faulkner and Rob Goyette. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
