Rodney Preston Barnes, age 53, husband of Melissa Barnes, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky. He was born in Winchester, Kentucky on May 21, 1971, to Rodney Barnes and Ida Mae Profitt Barnes. Rodney was a 1989 Powell County High School graduate and worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Powell County Board of Education. He loved his family and cherished spending time with them. Rodney enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a member of the Beechfork Golf Course and served as the chairman of the Beechfork Water Commission. Rodney is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Madelynn Robertson. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Cierra Barnes (Quintin) Robertson; his step-daughter, Erin (Matthew) Brooks; and three grandchildren: Preston Robertson, Evelyn Robertson, and Emilia Brooks. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Dale Payne will be held at the funeral home immediately following at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be held at Kennon Cemetery in Clay City with Shannon Stidham, Rick Tyra, Ricky “Birddog” Willoughby, Ray Profitt, Bruce Watkins, Randy Watkins, Scotty Hatton, and Greg Profitt serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Beechfork Golf Course, staff of the Maintenance Department of the Powell County Board of Education, Matthew Brooks, Quintin Robertson, and Willis Henderson. The family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice East, 207 Shoppers Drive, Winchester, KY 40391. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
