Donna Dotson

On the morning of February 25, 2023, Donna Sue Dotson, age 69, of Clay City, Kentucky, ended her long battle of Covid at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stanton, KY. Donna Sue was born on April 20, 1953 in Freeburn, Ky to the late Virgil Mounts and the late Ettamae Stump Mounts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Alice Mounts and Linda Adams; one brother, Gary Mounts; her brother-in-law, Larry Maynard and her grandson, who she adored, Tristan Dotson. Donna Sue was a devoted wife to her husband of 47 years, Herman Dotson, a loving mother to her two sons and grandmother to her five grandchildren. Donna’s sense of humor and honest way of approaching life is what her loved ones will miss most. She loved going to car shows with her husband, tending to her roses in the spring and summer and riding the golf cart around the neighborhood. She enjoyed her shows and always had to have candy and orange pop close by. Her grandchildren remember the times of nanny playing under the kitchen island and always making them lunch and letting them help her make combination meat. In addition to her husband, Donna is survived by two sons: Chris (Laura) Ferrell and Jerry (Bobbie) Dotson both of Clay City; three sisters: Delores Ann Maynard of Phelps, Deborah (Dean) Hall of Hudson, NC and Lethia (Danny) Mayhorn of Wellington; one brother, Larry (Angela) Mounts of Freeburn; one brother-in-law, Tilford Adams and four grandchildren: Caleb, Zachary and Morgan Ferrell of Clay City and Jerrica Dotson of Mount Sterling. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Sammy Faulkner, Bro. Ryan Dotson and Bro. Otto Young will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Stonegate Cemetery with Caleb Ferrell, Zachary Ferrell, Morgan Ferrell, Ryan Dotson, Fryman Johnson and Tommy Johnson serving as active pallbearers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home, Inc. of Stanton.
